Whether this is your first child or you fifth, you are going through one of the most intense periods of life you will ever experience – and you are doing an amazing job!
During these first few months, a sling, wrap or carrier can be an amazing item in your parenting tool kit. Want to find out more? Read on.
The 4th Trimester
When human babies are born, they are totally helpless and reliant on their parents for everything. For food, for warmth, for comfort. Babies have been in a snug cosy environment for 9 months and then suddenly… boom! They are in the big, cold and noisy world. Is it any wonder that most babies want to be held all of the time? That they want to be close to you and hate being put down?
Those first few months with a newborn baby is often referred to as the 4th trimester. Holding your baby, whether in arms or using a sling, wrap or carrier, can be an amazing way of bonding as a new family and building secure bonds. Your can read more about the 4th Trimester here.
Help! I know a sling would be amazing… but where do I even start?!
You are a new parent, with a tiny human who is totally reliant on you and doesn’t want to be put down. You are exhausted. You don’t remember the last time you ate a proper meal as your hands are full.
Your friend, relative or health visitor suggests a sling.
Imagine dragging yourself to the high street shop, or looking at all these slings available on the internet, and not having a clue which one is going to be safe or comfortable.
A one -to-one Consultation
Now imagine having an impartial expert who can come out to your home, or you can come to me. I will listen to your needs, narrow down your options and help you to find a sling will love. A sling that will enable you to carry your child confidently, comfortably and above all safely.
You get my exclusive time. We look together at the benefits of carrying, safety and positioning, and the different types of slings available. You can then try the different slings that appeal to you, with a demonstration doll and then with your own baby. If you already have a sling we can work with this. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions. The session goes at yours and you baby’s pace, and your needs come first.
By the end of the session you will be confident that you will be able to carry your baby comfortably and safely. You may wish to buy a sling from me there and then. You can also order later online, or buy elsewhere, there is no pressure, and there is always a cheeky discount for my clients! A one to one consultation is particularly suitable if you have twins or have an older child that you also wish to carry . If you or you baby has any medical issues such as prematurity , hip issues or anything else which may impact on your carrying journey I can also tailor our meeting to meet these needs.
The cost of the Start from the Start consultation is £35, and it lasts up to 90 minutes. Contact me to arrange a convenient time.
